Capital City Club: A New Stage for Platinum

With a nice new stage in the ballroom, in the smaller portion where the bar is, we played to a terrific crowd of wedding celebrators.  The big news would have been that we had 2 subs: Cooper Tisdale on guitar and Tim Crump on saxophone.  I've known Cooper for years and years.  He runs in some different circles and I regret not forging a stronger bond with him back in the day.  He is an excellent player who has his own repertoire and plays in multiple situations, including his own trio as well as a solo setting.  Tim attended GSU, so I should have struck up some conversation about our common schooling.  He sounded real nice, playing some tasty blues-infused licks that were a fine contrast to Anton's style.  We performed a great Sam Cooke original that doesn't get heard as much as the big hits: Nothing Can Change This Love.  I enjoyed the 12/8 groove and Johnny absolutely owned the vocal.  It was perfect for his tenor range.  Good food and the usual green room made it a nice way to spend our Saturday evening.  The crowd danced to everything we gave them.
