Jenn & Amy's Masquerade Jubilee

Laissez les bons temps rouler!

The BadAsh Voodoo Daddy All Stars: Adrian Ash, John Hancotte, Brett Warren, Alan Dynin
Adrian rounded 4 of us up for a Saturday night house party in the heart of Brookhaven.  It was a chance to play with the fringe-skirting chops hound Brett Warren and the quiet yet savvy keyboard wizard Alan Dynin.  Adrian is always up to something good.  It was also an opportunity to prepare some 30 odd tunes I had never played before.  Brett commissioned the setlist with a few suggestions from Ade and myself.  Check out this list:

Brett commissioned the setlist.  Some of the tunes are admittedly off topic as far as Mardi Gras music might be concerned, but that's how Brett rolls.  Blues works really well for the theme too.  That weird band name Here Come The Mummies can only hint at the crazy yet slick and tight music they perform.  The band reminds me of Tubes from their Outside Inside David Foster era.  So we got to maybe a third of these songs, perhaps.  Man, what a lot of work!

The party was great, with nice people and serious hospitality on the part of the hostesses.  Great food, a signature drink Voodoo Daddy (beware of that, kids), warm weather and a comfortable deck, plus the expansive living room where we performed, all made for a fun hang.  Alan even played accordion on a few tunes.  My usual rig was massively loud in this room.  It was perhaps a bit too much.  I also successfully employed my JBL 10 as a side fill monitor main.  The pics tell the story of the good times.  I left after getting paid, and not a moment too soon.
